THE SHORT ANSWER
Start with the annual total, not just the monthly headline.
Fireflies has a Free plan and three paid tiers. Pro is advertised at $18 per seat monthly or $10 per seat/month with annual billing. The latter means $120 for a year for one seat, before tax and extras. Business is $29 monthly or $19 on annual billing; Enterprise displays $39 on annual billing only.
For a five-seat team, Pro is $90 with monthly billing or $600 for a year on annual billing. The subscription is only part of the decision: check downloads, retained storage and any separately purchased AI credits before choosing.

01 / THE BASE PRICE
Fireflies plan prices at a glance
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual equivalent/month | Annual base/seat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | $0 |
| Pro | $18 | $10 | $120 |
| Business | $29 | $19 | $228 |
| Enterprise | Not listed | $39 | $468* |

02 / YOUR TEAM’S COST
Calculate Pro or Business for your team
Choose how many paid seats you need. This calculator uses the list rates above, with no discounts, taxes, currency conversion, credit purchases or upload overages.
Worked examples: one and five paid seats
| Scenario | Monthly bill | 12 monthly payments | Annual billing total | Annual difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pro · 1 seat | $18 | $216 | $120 | $96 |
| Pro · 5 seats | $90 | $1,080 | $600 | $480 |
| Business · 1 seat | $29 | $348 | $228 | $120 |
| Business · 5 seats | $145 | $1,740 | $1,140 | $600 |
The difference assumes you keep the subscription for all twelve months. For example, three monthly Pro payments total $54 for one seat, below a $120 annual purchase. Annual billing becomes cheaper than seven unchanged $18 monthly payments, but choosing it means committing earlier. Refunds, partial-year credits and future price changes are not included.
03 / WHAT FREE MEANS
Is Fireflies AI completely free?
There is a $0 plan, but the allowance depends on what you do. The Free-plan guide lists three starter transcription credits for website signups. These can be used for uploaded-file transcription and eligible summaries. They are distinct from AI credits for advanced features.
The current unlimited-transcription guide says eligible free meeting transcription requires Auto-join, and excludes the “Only when I invite” option. It also distinguishes accounts created before September 1, 2026. This does not establish unlimited manual file uploads or unlimited AI output. Check the settings for your actual account; we did not enable Auto-join during our manual-upload tests.
The pricing page describes Free storage as 400 minutes per team; the Free-plan guide says per seat. The Free-plan guide also describes 20 monthly AI credits, while the dedicated AI-credit guide calls the included credits one-time. The Pro and Business guides also describe included credits per seat, unlike the credit guide’s shared, non-scaling pool. We do not assume allowances multiply with seats or renew monthly. Check your account allowance or ask the provider.
For our own two synthetic uploads, the free account provided notes we could inspect. That small test establishes access to those outputs, not an entitlement to unlimited future recordings.
04 / BEYOND THE SUBSCRIPTION
Storage, upload processing and AI credits are separate
Retained storage versus monthly processing
The storage and rate-limit guide lists Pro with 8,000 retained minutes and Business/Enterprise with unlimited storage. Retained minutes are the recordings you keep, not a fresh monthly allowance. It separately lists external-upload processing at 3,000 minutes per source/month for an individual, or 3,000 multiplied by users for a team, capped at 150,000 per source. The stated overage rate is $0.01/minute. Confirm applicability to your plan and upload source; free starter credits are a separate constraint.
Example: 100 hours retained is 6,000 minutes, below the listed Pro storage cap. Uploading those same 6,000 minutes in one month through one source would exceed the stated individual processing allowance by 3,000 minutes—an illustrative $30 overage if that rule applies. We have not incurred or tested an overage charge.
Advanced AI usage can add a recurring charge
The AI-credit guide lists credits as an optional add-on, available only on paid plans. You can pay monthly or annually; the guide says annual billing is 20% lower. Two examples: 50 credits cost $5/month, or $4/month billed annually, and 200 credits cost $20/month, or $16/month billed annually. Credits are shared by the whole team, usage is dynamic (more complex requests use more credits), and transcription itself is not charged in AI credits.
According to the guide, purchased credits auto-renew on the billing interval you chose unless you pause them, and unused purchased credits do not carry over to the next cycle on either interval. If your plan credits run out and you have no credit subscription yet, the guide says Fireflies automatically subscribes you to the lowest tier ($5/month for 50 credits); Free users see a paywall instead, with no automatic charge. Existing subscribers who run out are moved up to the next tier, and on an annual credit plan that extra charge is applied pro-rata over the annual cycle. Check or pause auto-upgrades before enabling a recurring workflow; we did not purchase credits or measure per-prompt usage.
Our calculator excludes these add-ons. For illustration, five Pro seats billed annually plus one team credit subscription at $20/month for twelve months would be $600 + $240 = $840 before tax or other charges. With annual credit billing, the same 200 credits at $16/month come to $192 for the year, so $600 + $192 = $792. Both figures assume the add-on stays at that tier; neither is a claim that 200 credits will cover your workload.
05 / AN OBSERVED PAYWALL
Do you need Pro to download transcripts?
The download guide places transcript, summary and recording downloads on Pro and higher. It lists PDF, DOCX, SRT, CSV, JSON and Markdown transcript formats.
In our free account, selecting PDF on the first test recording produced an upgrade prompt. No PDF downloaded. We did not buy a plan or test paid export formatting. That distinction matters: a visible format selector did not mean the free account could complete the export.
If your workflow requires archiving client transcripts outside the app, check this entitlement before relying on Free. For the actual note quality and owner errors we observed, read our Fireflies AI review.
06 / MAKING THE CHOICE
Which Fireflies plan should you consider?
- Trying the output: use the available Free allowance on a small, non-sensitive example and inspect the result before committing.
- Needing downloadable files: investigate Pro’s export entitlement. Start with monthly billing if you are still validating the workflow.
- Keeping more recordings: compare Business against Pro’s retained-minute limit. Paying more is not evidence of better note accuracy.
- Buying for five people: confirm the paid seats, shared credit allowance and actual recording needs. Do not multiply all allowances by five automatically.
The best next step is to match a required feature to a verified plan. Our test method separates observed behavior from advertised features; none of our free-account tests demonstrates paid-plan quality or long-term reliability.
Fireflies pricing questions
Is the $10 Pro price paid monthly?
It is the monthly equivalent under annual billing: $120 for one seat for a year. The listed monthly-billing price is $18.
How much is Fireflies for five users?
At the listed base rates, five Pro seats cost $90 monthly or $600 with annual billing. Five Business seats cost $145 monthly or $1,140 annually. Taxes, credits and overages are extra where applicable.
Does unlimited transcription mean unlimited AI credits?
No. Recording/transcription access, retained storage and advanced AI usage have different rules. The documentation also disagrees about whether included Free AI credits renew; verify the account balance rather than assuming a monthly refill.
Have you tested the paid plans?
No. Our direct tests used a free account. This guide combines those observations with dated official sources and transparent cost arithmetic.
