MARVIN SMIT / FOUNDER & EDITOR

The person behind the lab

I’m Marvin Smit, the person running The Tech Stack Lab. The project started with a practical question: when an AI tool promises to handle part of your working day, what actually happens to the details?

The first articles focus on meeting notes, follow-up messages and CRM tasks. They show the original prompts and selected screenshots, including missed owners, changed deadlines and product-access boundaries.

An AI assistant helps research, operate test interfaces, document results, draft articles and build this website under my direction. We identify that assistance and the scope of each test. Synthetic conversations are labelled as fictional; an assistant-operated trial is not presented as my years of personal product experience.

What you can inspect

  • The input: fictional notes or a synthetic recording, with deliberately changed dates and unresolved details.
  • The result: original product output and screenshots, with interpretation kept separate.
  • The limit: the account tier, features we could access and checks we did not complete.

Our test method explains the process. For a starting point, compare the Fireflies notes tests with the manual CRM handoff. These are separate cases, not a tested integration.

A small publication with a defined focus

We do not claim to have tested every tool, every plan or every use case. Ten articles can reuse one documented scenario from different angles; that does not turn it into ten independent trials.

Read the editorial and commercial policy for how we handle recommendations, AI assistance, sources and corrections.
